About Us : To let you know more about Mulalundur. Mulalundur is the largest and oldest workplace for disabled people in Iceland, having started its operations in 1959. Mulalundur is under the ownership of SIBS, the Icelandic Association of Tuberculosis and Chest Patients. Sibs is made up of the Icelandic Association of Heart Patients, the Icelandic Asthma and Allergy Association and the Icelandic Association of Lung Patients. About thirty to forty disabled people are working in the equivalent of twenty full-time positions. Mulalundur is conceived as a workplace in which disabled individuals can work temporarily, for instance for six months, and as a result of this, can re-enter the general labour market. Some need to stay longer before becoming part of the labour market, while others go back on the waiting list to return to Mulalundur. There are many examples where workers have done well and gone back to the labour market with very good results.
