Use of Natural dyes dates back to historical eras use of some colours were only for imperial families. The use of Natural dyes in Shawls involves great labour & time. However, use of Natural dyes cut down significantly the amount of toxic effluent resulting from the synthetic dye process. To recreate original Kashmir Shawls it was necessary that besides fine wool, textures, weaving skills and coloration was imparted through Natural dyes. Successfully a range of 14 colours was achieved with the use of various natural dyes directly or through combinations. The pieces of stoles and shawls thus created are value added with handblock prints as well.
