Today it has large bauxite reserves. In 1999, AMCOL International Corporation acquired 20% stake in Ashapura Minechem Ltd. Ashapura now has access to AMCOL technology for various value-added bentonite products. Ashapura has now mastered the art of producing value-added bentonite and bauxite based products for diverse applications, which in turn result in higher realization. To ensure sustained growth, the company strategy is to add new minerals and value-added products to its portfolio and move closer to its global customers. Today, the company has interests in Antwerp, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Nigeria, Malaysia.The company also has processing plants for Kaolin, from it's reserves in Trivandrum, Kerala and Kutch, Gujarat. On recognizing the high demand of washed and calcined Kaolin the company decided to set up and state of the art plant for processing kaolin. The technology used was developedby our R&D team after rigorous research and understanding the customer requirements. The plant has capability of producing 200,000 mt/p.a. of raw Kaolin and Washed Kaolin.The plant will cater to various application like Paper, Paint, Ceramics, Rubber and Plastics. Due to the highly platy structure of the reserves available the plant is able to produce washed Kaolin which can be used in coating application for paper and as an extender to TiO2. The plant is also able to produce engineered clay for application of Rubber, Plastics and PVC.We have installed calciners which can produce produce meta-kaolin grades for Rubber, Plastics and PVC. The calciners can produce refractory grades also.
