• About Us : Set up in 1999 the company initially specialised in packaging and selling gift items direct to retailers. M&B Promotions most successful lines were novelty and deluxe cigarette lighters, which we re-branded and sold nationwide.We have since diversified into selling watches, cosmetics, toys and even a range of joke merchandise. We continue to sell through retailers but also sell direct to the public at trade fairs etc.In an effort to reach new markets, in 2002 we launched a novelty lighter franchise operation. We managed to recruit a number of franchisees throughout the country. Each franchisee received a protected area in which to grow their own business, twenty retail outlets, stock, point of sale material and full training.After selling the sixth franchised area, in just nine months, we held a full review to assess the relative merits of the business. It was apparent that the franchisees recruited did not have the desire or drive to grow their businesses, and indeed did not fully support the retailers they had. By association this gave M&B Promotions Ltd a tarnished reputation because every lighter sold had our name on it. We therefore withdrew the franchise to new recruits in 2003, but obviously continued to support the franchisees we had.
