• About Us : Oriental mines pvt. Ltd. Was incorporated for mining of soapstone from the uttaranchal region in northern India. Oriental Mines Pvt Ltd began operations in 1999 with one mine and have now grown over the years to include 5 mines and a talc powder manufacturing unit which has a capacity of more than 24, 000 tons per year. The founder of the company, Mr. K. K. khemka was associated with the birla group, which is among the top 10 largest business groups in India, for the last 40 years. He has founded and managed several of the leading birla companies, namely century pulp & paper, kesoram rayon and birla tyres. Our soapstone mines are located in pungar valley, near reema, bageswar in uttaranchal. These mines have substantial deposits with one of the best qualities of soapstone, known for its brightness and silkiness. Our product has been well accepted by customers throughout the world and is acclaimed for its quality. We currently manufacture talc powder of various grades and brightness in our factory located in rudrapur in uttaranchal, near haldwani. Our current capacity is 24, 000 tons per year and we are looking to expand further by the end of 2007 to 36, 000 tons per year. The talc powder manufactured by us has found widespread acceptance in the market due to its quality and excellent brightness. This is mainly due to two factors. The first being the high quality of soapstone from our mines which is among the best in the world. The second is the rigorous quality tests that our powder is put through which ensures that only the best quality is delivered to our customers. We have a well-equipped laboratory which tests all product samples before dispatch. Our plant being located at rudrapur also gives us the advantage of close proximity to the mines, which means that our costs are kept to a minimum and there is easy availability of raw materials. Also, the plant is located at 250 km from Delhi, near Delhi-lucknow highway leading to the freight charges being very low for markets in Delhi, punjab, up, haryana & eastern India. Other advantages we enjoy are exemption of excise duty in notified industrial area in uttarachal and a lower rate of Central sales tax (cst) .
