There are over 11,000 images and the database may be searched in many ways including botanical description or specific criteria, soil, use, size, etc.PlantFile was firs started in 1982 as a study guide for horticulture students but was not released until 2001 and now has over 5,000 users in 4 countries. It is also expanding to the PlantFile Search database (a customised PlantFile Pty Ltdb based plant database for nurseries and government organizations).
