• About Us : Baluchistan Laminates a Division of Thal Limited, was established in 1980 as the first unit of its kind manufacturing high pressure decorative laminatesin Pakistan under the brand name of Formite.Having achieved the basics, the Company begun integrating upstream and downstreamfacilitiesto improve the quality of its products. In 1982, first trial productionof technical laminates was undertaken. In 1983, Melamite was launched.In 1983, BLD also produced the first laminated board using the high pressure presses of the main production line. In 1985, the short-cycle press was commissioned. This state-of-the-art press is capable of processing a raw chipboard from selection to pressingc and cleaning and stacking in under 90 seconds.The final product is a quality surface that commands the most respect, and is still the number one laminated board inspite having lost its monopoly within the first few yearsof its launch. The same year, BLD launched special laminates featuring copper two-tone laminates brushed silver and gold laminates, laminates with jute surface, fabric laminates incorporating the Ajrak cloth and other traditional patterns of fabric.In 1986 with the installation of phenol treater at BLD, Fibrite became possible for the company. This product, grey cloth impregnated with phenolic resins and pressedtoformsheets in size 2440x1220mm (8'x4') in varying thicknesses is comparable to any such material produced anywhere in the world.In 1992, BLD diversified its decorative range and Formite Tuff was launched. This 1mm high pressure decorative laminate was the first range of decorative laminates in this thickness in Pakistan and offered the finest collection of plain colBalochistan Laminatess from the original French collection of Arjomari.In 1993, BLD introduced the Classic range of Laminates.This series incorporating the latest patterns from our European suppliers became an instant hit with the interior designers and decoratorsand offerspatternsand designs far from the conventional laminate patterns.In 1994 the company launched Formite Econo to cater to the price conscious segment of the market. Econo includes the entire Formite range of colours andpatterns, but is of a slightly lesser thickness than Formite brand decorative laminate standard sheets.In 1999, with the addition of Phenol Resin Plant, the Production started with different grades (Electrical, mechanical and for other purposes). The Company expended in the Resin Manufacturing techniques with complete know-how of all materials directly / indirectly uses in producing technical and decorative laminates, which enhance in the product development and better control over finished products. In the year 2000, BLD established a Quality System whish is in accordance with the requirement of EN ISO 9002: 1994 "Quality System Model for Quality Assurance in Production, Installation and Servicing with the slogan "Quality Ensures Our Future" form M/s AIB-VINCOTTE Int. Brussels, Belgium. All the system now works as per Quality System requirements. Baluchistan Laminates as its basic philosophy strives to stay a step ahead of the competition by bringing to its clients the very latest. This translates into not just better than average patterns and colours, but also the option to find more than an option, no matter what the need From surface finishes that begun with shine, dull and textured, BLD introduced four new finishes on its Formite Tuff range. Not only have those four finishes survived, but today are an integral part of any designer's arsenal.
