Through Non-GMO genetic hybridization, many specialty corns that have unique adaptations for human nutrition and industrial uses have been developed. Yellow waxy and White waxy corn varieties develop a clear and tasteless starch paste, especially desirable for food processors. Class 7 High Amylose corn features a high percentage of soluble starch for specific industrial products. White dent corn has many applications for food processors as does Hard endosperm / food corn. Edible soybeans are contract grown for our clients, who purchase specific varieties for use as natto, tofu, miso, and boiled soybeans. Our processing facility at Gibson City, Illinois is equipped with machinery for cleaning and sizing, gravity tabling, de-stoning along with the ability of roll sorting of soybeans, which provides food-grade quality, superior to the facilities designed primarily for processing seed. Our facility is equipped to provide container loading (bulk or bagged product) for shipments directly from the East coast, West coast and Gulf sea ports. SGI's staff has been involved in travel to the Orient, South America and Europe to research the requirements of foreign clients for specialty crops. We have continued to work closely with the buyers of specialty grains and have learned to understand their needs. Sgi has further developed the capability to meet those needs through meticulous attention to quality in production, processing and shipping of the grain products.
