The boxitogorsk alumina plant was founded in 1939 for the production of aluminium hydroxide, metallurgical alumina and different types of special grade aluminas. The fusing plant for production of white fused alumina was started in 1961 and reached its full capacity in the end of the 1960's. Today the main plant's product is white fused alumina which is being sold not only on the Russian internal market but also exported into many countries including Germany, UK, poland, Spain, and Japan. Current capacity of the plant is about 70. 000 tons of white fused alumina (refractories, fepa macro grits, fepa micro grits) per year.
